DESCRIPTION:The Lake Havasu Gem and Mineral Society will be setting up dry camping at Plomosa Road in Quartzsite during the Quartzsite Improvement Association’s Pow Wow. Any Club member is welcome whether you are camping out or not! The camp out will start on January 14 and will go through the 18th or longer if you like. The Pow Wow runs from January 15 through the 19th. \nLocation: Plomosa Road gravel lot. Take Hwy. 95 south through Parker heading towards Quartzsite.  At the traffic light outside of Parker\, turn right towards Quartzsite. At about 16.8 miles\, turn left onto Plomosa Road. Go 1.3 miles\, campsite will be on the right. Look for Gem Club signs and painted pink rocks. \nInfo: make sure your RV is fully charged\, has a full LP gas tank and water tank\, and all holding tanks should be empty. Bring folding chairs and tables\, solar lights\, fire wood\, flash lights. \nBring a food dish to share at the Thursday night Pot Luck which will be held at 5p.m.   Plus there will be nightly bonfires. \nFriday is the day campers will visit the Pow Wow or you can visit on your own. Information about attending Quartzite’s Club field trips will follow. \nThings to do and places to eat in Quartzite: \nSilly Al’s Pizza\, Beer Belly’s outdoor Bar with food in Tyson Wells\, Tyson Wells Rock Show\, Desert Gardens Rock Show\, Gem World Rock Shop\, Nature Designs Ware House\, Rossmans Rock Shop\, 2 grocery stores. \nIf you do need Mobile RV services: Mobile & RV Pump Services #602-935-9470. DESCRIPTION:The Gem Club’s Vice President\, Steve Prather\, will be leading a rock hounding field trip to an area out behind Oatman\, AZ. We will be looking for fire agates and chalcedony. A high clearance vehicle is required\, but it does not have to be four wheel drive. Bring a rock hammer\, chisel and/or a pick and bucket if you want to dig. It will be a bit chilly\, so dress warm\, wear hiking boots and don’t forget a snack and water! The drive will be about and hour and a half.   We will be digging on a private claim so a fee of $15 per person CASH is required. Meet at the Havasu Rocks Lapidary Shop at 8:00a.m.

DESCRIPTION:On November 17th one of our directors\, Elley Ringo\, will be leading a field trip to the Jasper agate and gas bubble geode location outside of Parker\, AZ.\n\nThe trip will take about 50 minutes one way. Any vehicle will be able to get there. There is a short walk from the parking area to the dig site. We will be there for a few hours but you are welcome to stay as short or as long as you prefer.\n\nMembers will meet at Basha’s parking lot\, south side of Lake Havasu City\, at 8:30a.m. We will leave at 9am. All must sign the liability waiver before the trip.
